Grief Support for Individuals, Families, and Older Adults

We believe that grief is a testament to enduring love, that each heart heals in its own time, and in the unbreakable resilience of the human spirit that thrives even in the face of loss.

The Community Grief Center is a 501(c) 3 non-profit in Northern Colorado. We are your compassionate resource for coping with life’s most challenging losses. We offer a variety of empathetic support services, from group sessions to one-to-one companionship, covering all aspects of grief. Supported by our generous community of donors, sponsors, and volunteers, we aim to break the isolation of grief and build a network of support. You’re not alone—let us be a part of your healing journey.

Initiated by a group of local citizens and following the writings of grief expert Alan Wolfelt, Ph.D., the Community Grief Center was established in Greeley to provide comprehensive grief support. We received our 501c3 status and opened our doors in 2016, thanks to generous donations and community support. Today, we have both a Programs Director who oversees/develops programs, aided by a dedicated volunteer team, and our Executive Director who focuses on community engagement and fundraising, Governed by a visionary Board of Directors, we’ve served over 5,000 grieving individuals since our inception, offering all services without cost to the grieving community.

in The Heart of Healing

At the Community Grief Center, we believe that no one should walk the path of grief alone. Our sanctuary is a haven for those whose hearts are heavy, providing a comforting hand to guide you through your unique journey of healing.

Our Guiding Mission

Every tear shed is a testament to love once shared. We’re here to ensure that those tears find a comforting shoulder and understanding heart. Our mission is to connect and heal those of all ages mourning a loss, while also enlightening our community about the deep effects of grief.

Our Vision

Like a lighthouse in the storm, we aim to be the beacon of hope and healing for children, youth, and adults finding their way in the mist of grief. Through seminars and online resources, we cast our light even further, educating and empowering both professionals and the wider community.

Embracing Those In Need

Did you know that a significant portion of our community is touched by grief every year? From the young child to the older adult, from immediate loss to long-ago heartaches, we are here to serve, support, and provide solace.
We offer more than just words – our specialized grief support programs, rooted in Dr. Alan Wolfelt’s “companioning model,” create spaces of mutual understanding and healing. Our doors are always open, waiting to welcome another soul on their journey toward healing.
